Burnham Rotarians Christmas Fund Raising

Happy collectors ignore the cold and showers to collect for elderly folk

Report and photographs: Paul Janik

On a cold, dark and showery evening two volunteers from Burnham's Rotary Club stood outside Sainsbury's supermarket in Taplow alongside the A4 road between Slough and Maidenhead.

The women, who did not want to give their names, said the local Rotary Club were collecting money to provide Christmas parcels for elderly residents who have difficulty leaving their homes because of infirmity, age or illness.

The Burnham Rotary Club, not to be confused with the Burnham Beeches Rotary Club, meets every Wednesday evening at the Pines Hotel, off Gore Road, Burnham.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to support the Rotarians' Christmas Appeal or wanting to know more about the Burnham Rotarians can contact them through their web site at
